Retailers and licensees celebrate International Stitch Day
International Stitch Day – which takes place on June 26th in honour of Experiment 626 – offers fans, toy retailers and licensees of the animated property the chance to celebrate their love of the mischievous blue alien
Fans worldwide are joining in the celebrations for International Stitch Day, as love for Experiment 626 – the little blue alien’s official moniker – continues to grow.
One of the most highly anticipated product launches of the year, Wow! Stuff’s Real FX Stitch has already sold out at major retailers across the globe and broken all sales records for the company after going up for pre-order on 1st June.
MD Richard North told Toy World: “With zero advertising behind it, our Real FX Disney Stitch ‘puppetronic’ toy sold out in the USA on Amazon.com and also in the UK at Smyths Toys a few days ago. My sister in law wanted one for my niece, Holly: my wife made me send her my own sample.”
Richard added: “Our sought after First Edition Real FX Stitch toys will be in the hands of fans today to mark International Stitch Day. New stock has also been arriving at Smyths stores up and down the country this week, ready to cater to soaring demand. Previously, our Real FX Jurassic World Baby Blue and Real FX Invisibility Cloak were our best-sellers but based on current sell through, Real FX Stitch is going to top that and be the No. 1 sought after toy this Christmas. Dave Middleton of Midco Toys predicted as much the second he saw it in LA last year, while Toy World contributor Richard Derr, of Learning Express in the USA, also tipped it to become a top toy for the year.”
Retailers are also getting in on the action. Midco Toys’ Dave Middleton has installed an eye-catching new window display at his Burton store, headlined by Wow! Stuff’s Real FX Stitch. Appearing alongside is a raft of toys and games from other major licensees including Winning moves, Craft Buddy, Just play, Jazwares, Simba Smoby, DKB Toys & Distribution, Ravensburger, Funko and YuMe Toys.
